What is an Online Entrepreneur: “Internet-preneur”?

I recently spoke at the Ultimate Women’s Expo in Phoenix, AZ on the topic of How to Start Your Own Business with Zero Investment. I was surprised at the response and number of people (men and women) who wanted to know more information about how to start a business…online. My whole presentation/talk involved using the Internet to “make money” or even start a new business. Can it really be done? Can anyone at any time really learn how to make money using the Internet? It seems so foreign to most of us. We’ve been spammed, scammed and scared to death to trust this online exposure. But, should we stop trying or figure out how to make it work. I am a big believer in making it work. I am living proof that it can be done.

I have spent the past few years learning how to be successful as an “online entrepreneur“. Some have coined the phrase…”internetpreneur.” I had to learn the facts and fiction of SEO, Google, keywords, and anything to do with online marketing. I had to try and fail; keep trying until I succeed. What works; what doesn’t work. I have become an avid student of the Internet and its intricacies. I am also believer in cutting to the chase. I hate to waste people’s time and money. I hate the idea of trying to sell some “slick” get rich quick program, of which I have purchased a few over the years. What have I learned through it all? Number one, there is a LOT of money to be made online. We spend on average about 290 million dollars per day. Number two, nothing happens over night or fast. It takes time, hard work, and persistence. Today, it takes a long time for new products to penetrate the marketplace. Number three, you must be willing to LEARN new things, new ways and new tools. The old school is old school. Some of the same principles may apply but the strategies have changed.

In 2009, my business partner Tonilee Adamson and I co-founded this little company called Media 4 Women Enterprises. It’s been a crazy few years. The growth, the potential, the opportunities have been overwhelming. I have over 25 years experience in business. I have an Executive MBA. I have started several new companies. But, everything with Media 4 Women has defied the odds. Growing exponentially in a recession doesn’t make sense. Logically, to me, our success doesn’t make sense either. BUT, I have to acknowledge that the foundation has been based upon the same things I mentioned earlier. Hard work, willingness to learn new ways, ability to change, persistence, risk and patience to keep going, keep moving forward. I also have to acknowledge that at the end of the day, we are “online entrepreneurs”. We work online, all day, every day. We are living proof that becoming an online entrepreneur is a potentially a successful path.

Media 4 Women will be launching a new, innovative Online Entrepreneur Academy in early 2013. This “training” program will be nothing like what is on the market today. It will have one main purpose and goal: to make YOU successful in online business. It is time for us to share what we have learned in a format that can be used by anyone at any level. Our passion at Media 4 Women is to teach and train. We have worked with hundreds of companies and clients over the past few years and we are eager to share the experience with others. Stay tuned for more information coming about the new Online Entrepreneur Academy. There will be something for everyone, if you are willing to learn and are ready for a life change that leads to success.

The Rise and Power of Smart Phones

The iPhone 5 made its debut this week to one of the most massive launches in history. Smart Phones are exponentially increasing in sales throughout the world. Our lives seem at times to be compacted into these handheld electronic devices.  “By next Friday, the iPhone 5 will be in 31 countries, and will be in 100 by the end of the calendar year. That would be 30 more than the rollout of the predecessor phone, the 4S, over a similar period, Jeffries analyst Peter Misek calculated.” (CNBC)

Faster, thinner, and more memory…the iPhone 5 is touted as the fastest smart phone in the world. The Android is no slouch. It is a powerhouse in its own right and has legions of loyal users. The Android and iPhone comprise 85% of the smart phone market. I used to be a Verizon Blackberry fan, not wanting to go the iPhone route. But, in January of 2012, I made the switch to iPhone 4S. My first thought was, “why did I wait so long?” I was hooked and I still am. I love the Apps, the functions and the “power”. It’s sick and crazy…and it’s not going away.

Owning Media 4 Women Enterprises gives me great reasons to stay on the cutting edge of the latest technologies. I can justify new gadgets and toys, all for the sake of improving my business. Though I do love the technology, it is also a critical component of staying up to date. Honestly, I consult with so many businesses and business owners who are struggling and fearful of keeping up. It’s a tough place to be and a valid concern in today’s marketplace. There is a difference in businesses who use smart phones and their accessories versus those who do not. Is your website mobile? Makes a difference, believe me.

The power of smart phones is a growing global phenomenon. There are predictions that are life-changing, literally. Apps could replace websites. Mobile purchases will reach the billions. Mobile ads will drive us crazy on our screens. Mobile marketing will be a must have for businesses. By 2015, we could be conducting most of our life’s activities via our handheld devices.

The Power of Blogging

It seems that “blogs” have been around a long time now. Over 200 Million blogs are read per day. Is that crazy or what? Who has time to read all these blogs? Trust me, people are reading blogs. People want to know what you think and what you have to say. I am continually amazed at the power of blogging. I work with several clients with whom I (or my staff) have set up blogsites for their businesses. At first they are skeptical about whether or not the blogs really matter. But, once we start posting the content, they start seeing the results. How do we know? We check the Google Analytics on their website traffic to monitor the visitors. It is really cool to see the blogsites referring visitors back to the website. It is even better when the blogsites are directly related to dollars and sales. The power of blogging is real.

With that said, there are absolute necessities when it comes to knowing HOW to blog and HOW to use the blogsites. If a person does not optimize their blogsite or have a strategy of what to post, then the results are definitely not that great. Blogs must include quality content that has value or at least “good” information. Blogs must include backlinks, hyperlinks to another website or landing (at least if you want to get search engines to take notice). And, blogs need to include the right keywords based upon your business, or what you are promoting or discussing. So, there is a method to the madness of blogging. The more you learn and apply, the better your results.

I am teaching a class on The Power of Blogging and everything you need to know to get started. We are videotaping the class, which will last about 2.5 hours at least. It is scheduled for Thursday August 8th from 6pm to 8:30pm. Registration and details are HERE. You can attend in person or request the video but I highly encourage anyone who is interested to check it out. If attending in person, bring your laptop and we will make sure your blog is set up before you leave the class.

Blogging is here to stay. Don’t be afraid and listen, it will not take that  much time to do. I promise.
