Kicking Off 2013 with New Seminar

Today on our radio program (www.TheWay4Today.com), Tonilee and I interviewed the CEO of oDesk.com, the world’s largest online employer. It was a very cool and amazing opportunity to speak with Gary Swart and hear his story. www.oDesk.com currently has over 1.2 million contractors across the world. Basically, there is nothing you cannot do in business today. The resources are astounding, from your own call center to a personal assistant to an app developer…all handled online.

2013 should be your break out year for success and prosperity. I know it’s time to see goals achieved and dreams realized. Are you ready? Media 4 Women is ready and making big plans. But, as we plan our goals for the new year, we also continue our mission to help others as entrepreneurs. Teaching, training and providing tools and resources to help those who want to be their own boss and control their own financial destiny are the motivations behind our services. From websites to social media to online marketing, the Internet is the future of most every type of business. Love it or hate it…we cannot escape it.

I’m kicking off the new year with a new seminar on Saturday, January 26th. The details are at www.Media4Women.com/seminars. The most important thing I have learned in working online is to not quit, keep at it and the rewards will come.

Here are my top 5 tips for online and social media success:

  1. Think about and plan what you want to communicate; what you do; your mission; your services; etc.
  2. Engage and communicate authentically. Be real. Be honest. Be genuine.
  3. Select your social media sites and use them consistently. Build relationships and develop trust with your audience by staying in touch with quality information on the same sites.
  4. Promote others’ businesses, organizations, events, etc. Be selfless and willing to network without being competitive. The returns in the long run are greater.
  5. Use the Internet and social media for good. Be positive in your communication and establish a solid quality reputation. Negativity and criticism should be avoided in online and social media postings. Choose your words wisely.

Make it a great year in 2013! Let us know if we can help. www.Media4Women.com

The Rise and Power of Smart Phones

The iPhone 5 made its debut this week to one of the most massive launches in history. Smart Phones are exponentially increasing in sales throughout the world. Our lives seem at times to be compacted into these handheld electronic devices.  “By next Friday, the iPhone 5 will be in 31 countries, and will be in 100 by the end of the calendar year. That would be 30 more than the rollout of the predecessor phone, the 4S, over a similar period, Jeffries analyst Peter Misek calculated.” (CNBC)

Faster, thinner, and more memory…the iPhone 5 is touted as the fastest smart phone in the world. The Android is no slouch. It is a powerhouse in its own right and has legions of loyal users. The Android and iPhone comprise 85% of the smart phone market. I used to be a Verizon Blackberry fan, not wanting to go the iPhone route. But, in January of 2012, I made the switch to iPhone 4S. My first thought was, “why did I wait so long?” I was hooked and I still am. I love the Apps, the functions and the “power”. It’s sick and crazy…and it’s not going away.

Owning Media 4 Women Enterprises gives me great reasons to stay on the cutting edge of the latest technologies. I can justify new gadgets and toys, all for the sake of improving my business. Though I do love the technology, it is also a critical component of staying up to date. Honestly, I consult with so many businesses and business owners who are struggling and fearful of keeping up. It’s a tough place to be and a valid concern in today’s marketplace. There is a difference in businesses who use smart phones and their accessories versus those who do not. Is your website mobile? Makes a difference, believe me.

The power of smart phones is a growing global phenomenon. There are predictions that are life-changing, literally. Apps could replace websites. Mobile purchases will reach the billions. Mobile ads will drive us crazy on our screens. Mobile marketing will be a must have for businesses. By 2015, we could be conducting most of our life’s activities via our handheld devices.

The Power of Blogging

It seems that “blogs” have been around a long time now. Over 200 Million blogs are read per day. Is that crazy or what? Who has time to read all these blogs? Trust me, people are reading blogs. People want to know what you think and what you have to say. I am continually amazed at the power of blogging. I work with several clients with whom I (or my staff) have set up blogsites for their businesses. At first they are skeptical about whether or not the blogs really matter. But, once we start posting the content, they start seeing the results. How do we know? We check the Google Analytics on their website traffic to monitor the visitors. It is really cool to see the blogsites referring visitors back to the website. It is even better when the blogsites are directly related to dollars and sales. The power of blogging is real.

With that said, there are absolute necessities when it comes to knowing HOW to blog and HOW to use the blogsites. If a person does not optimize their blogsite or have a strategy of what to post, then the results are definitely not that great. Blogs must include quality content that has value or at least “good” information. Blogs must include backlinks, hyperlinks to another website or landing (at least if you want to get search engines to take notice). And, blogs need to include the right keywords based upon your business, or what you are promoting or discussing. So, there is a method to the madness of blogging. The more you learn and apply, the better your results.

I am teaching a class on The Power of Blogging and everything you need to know to get started. We are videotaping the class, which will last about 2.5 hours at least. It is scheduled for Thursday August 8th from 6pm to 8:30pm. Registration and details are HERE. You can attend in person or request the video but I highly encourage anyone who is interested to check it out. If attending in person, bring your laptop and we will make sure your blog is set up before you leave the class.

Blogging is here to stay. Don’t be afraid and listen, it will not take that  much time to do. I promise.
